I bought this to add to powerpoint presentations. Easy to set up and intuitive to use.
Way to go Wacom. I think it knocks the socks off my old professional version.
But it just wouldn't adapt to OSX. So I did without for a couple of years and then I saw this Bamboo tablet.
Bamboo Fun (Medium) Silver Tablet with Pen, Mouse & Graphics SoftwareYears ago (in Classic 9 years) I owned a Wacom Tablet and it worked great. Well I was pleasantly surprised.
I don't need anything too elaborate, I just use it for photo retouching, illustrations, some fun painting, etc. so I thought I would give this "Fun" version a try.
It does everything I wanted it to do and then some. You did it again.
I have not tried the Nik filters that come bundled with it. kind of lags.
The software that comes with it was worth the price alone. On my Mac it was plug and play, literally.
The mouse is so so. You can even purchase Adobe CS4 for $299 when you register the product.
The pen works great with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Corel Painter Essentials that comes bundled with it. Recommend using your normal mouse rather than the one that comes with pad.
I would highly recommend this product for anyone that wants a low cost, high performance graphics tablet and pen.
For the price, this little tablet does work great. But for those who haven't used an Intuos regularly or who are poor like me, the Bamboo is an excellent choice. On my work Intuos I actually have all but one button disabled since I was hitting them by accident so much they were a liability.-The way the edges of the Bamboo are rounded is a god-send.
For Intuos users, there are some definite performance differences that take some getting used to.-The feel of the Bamboo is very different. I was disappointed that the included cable was a standard off-white one when the tablet itself came in so many colors. The only real issue I have with this tablet is the lag which has made me change my style of drawing to be much slower. I bought it for home use since I use a 9x12 Intuos at work.
My hand falls asleep much less without a hard edge cutting into my wrist.-Being able to remove the USB cable from the tablet for travel is a huge plus. The textured surface is slower than the slicker Intuos. After some use I've decided I don't mind it any more or less than the Intuos-- it's just different.-There is a noticeable lag with the Bamboo that the Intuos doesn't have when working with medium- to large-sized projects.-The pen tips do wear faster, but not so fast as to make it a big concern.-I actually prefer the buttons on the Bamboo over the Intuos, mostly since their placement makes it much easier to access with your drawing hand and less likely to hit on accident.
If you are used to an Intuos then it might be worth it (if you can afford it) to just buy the smaller Intuos for home use. Overall the design and function is pretty great.
The Bamboo Fun works well, can perform many options with it, My daughter likes it, very creative.
